Danielle Zabala is a Brooklyn-based interior designer focused on all aspects of residential interiors. Growing up in California with European parents, she brings a casual sophistication to her interiors. Her organic approach to design is to combine old with new; European with American; casual with elegance. She hopes to protect the history while bringing new light and energy into the space thus creating a warm and individualized interior that combines her client’s style and needs.
Danielle’s appreciation for design began at an early age when her mother would take her on outings to antique stores and flea markets throughout England, Prague and around southern California. She remembers the excitement in the hunt for the perfect object that has become a beloved treasure. This feeling of unknown discoveries still resonates with Danielle in her quest through her love of antiques and fine furniture, where a perfectly placed treasure can transform the space.
Danielle moved to NYC after college and worked for designers at Ralph Lauren, J. Crew and Coach. It was working closely with the designers that she was able to gain hands on education in fabric materials, quality and versatility. By working for over 15 years in the fashion industry, she now uses her knowledge directly with today’s interior fabrics in furniture, upholstery and fine linens.
